CARING FOR YOUR NEWLY PLASTERED POOL! THE FOLLOWING IS IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR YOUR NEWLY PLASTERED POOL:
Once plastering is completed, the crew will leave a hose in the pool to fill it with water. A cloth is tied to the end to keep the hose from whipping, to protect the new pool surface, and to catch any debris. Only potable water is added to the pool. Never fill pool from a line connected to a water softener.
The pool needs to dill as quickly as possible. Filling too slowly can cause check to appear on the steps and near the tile lin. The hose should not flail about the pool, nor rest on the plaster. Doing so may leave a mark. We will start filling the pool at the deep end. Don't worry if the protected end of the hose begins to float in the water. The pool must fill completely, either to the middle of the waterline tile or the skimmer opening. If the water is shut off before the pool is completely filled, it will leave a "bathtub ring" like stain at the stopping point. This stain may be permanent, so please let the pool fill completely.
Once the pool is full , you can start the equipment. Make sure the filter is clean, the circuit breakers are on , that the time clock is set, and everything I running properly. Note, waterfalls and fountains that are not necessary should be left off until the startup procedure is complete. Do not turn on your heater or use any automatic pool cleaner for a minimum of 3 weeks.
It is imperative to remember, it is the homeowners' responsibility to rid the pool plaster scale (dust) immediately. The plaster scale can harden and stick to the newly plastered surface. The entire pool should be brushed twice a day for about 7-10 days until the scale (dust) has gone away. The more you brush the pool , the better it will look. You may vacuum the scale from the bottom as long as you don't use the wheeled variety vacuum for at least 3 weeks.
Filters should be cleaned 2-3 weeks after the initial startup.
